Levels of Play:

TBall:

Our Tball program is intended for children who are in their first or second year of baseball and currently attending Kindergarten or pre-school.  The focus is on fun and learning basic throwing, catching and hitting skills.

Play will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 7 pm beginning June 5 2017 and ending approximately July 12 2017.  All play is at Clearview Elementary and we do not play teams from other communities.

Players will receive a hat and jersey.  Batting helmets are provided.  Baseball pants and cleats are optional.  Bring a glove.  Bats will be available to share or bring your own.

 

BBall:

Our Bball program is intended for children who are in their first to fourth year of baseball and are currently attending 1st or 2nd grade.  The focus is on basic throwing, catching, hitting and learning the rules of baseball.  Pitching is also introduced at this level.

Play will be Mondays and Wednesdays in 1 hour blocks from 6 pm to 7 pm or 7 pm to 8 pm. Practices begin in early May and games begin in late May. The season ends in early July. Practices and home games will be played at Clearview Elementary and away games could be in Becker (for the past 2 seasons all games were held at Clearview Elementary). During games coaches pitch to the players and players run the bases and field the ball. Scores and standings are not kept.  Pitching by kids to kids will be introduced at about the midway point of the season.

Players will receive a hat and jersey.  Team batting helmets are provided. Grey baseball pants (any style), red socks and cleats are the parents' responsibility.  Bring a glove.  Bats will be available to share or bring your own.

 

Willie Mays:

Willie Mays is an in-house baseball program intended for children in their second to sixth year of baseball and currently attending 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.  Exceptions can be made for younger players with advanced skills.  Players must be 10 years old or younger on April 30th 2017 so only some 5th graders will qualify.  Pitching and the catcher position are introduced at this level and other more advanced skills.

Play will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm.  Practices are held at Clearview Elementary and begin in mid April (weather permitting).  Games begin in late May and home games are at Clearview Elementary and away games are in Becker or Big Lake. Coaches may offer additional practices or scrimmages beyond the typical Tuesday and Thursday playing times.  Games are 2 hours maximum or a maximum six innings.  Players are typically asked to arrive 30 mins early for games.  A season-ending tournament will take place at Clearview Elementary approximately the third weekend in July.

At this level players pitch to the opposing team.  Base stealing is not allowed.  Half innings last until 3 outs are made or 5 runs are scored.  A pitcher may pitch a maximum of 6 outs or until they walk 5 batters in the same inning.

11/12U:

Our 11U/12U program is an in-house baseball program intended for player currently attending 5th, 6th or 7th grade.  Exceptions can be made for younger players with advanced skills.  Players must be 12 years old or younger on April 30th 2017 so only some 7th graders will qualify.  Base stealing is introduced at this level and other more advanced skills.

Play and practice dates will vary weekly but typically be twice per week Mondays through Thursdays at 6 pm.  Practices are held at Clearview Elementary or Sportsman Park in Clearwater and begin in mid April (weather permitting).  Games begin in late May and home games are at Clearview Elementary or Sportsman Park and away games are in Becker, Big Lake, Monticello and St Michaels/Albertville. Coaches may offer additional practices or scrimmages on weekends.  Games are 2 hours maximum or a maximum six innings.  Players are typically asked to arrive 30 mins early for games.  A season-ending tournament will take place (likely in Becker) on approximately the third weekend in July.  In addition, each team at this level will participate in 2 additional tournaments that are determined by the Head Coach (sign up early to have a say on when these will occur since registration for these will occur as early as mid March).  There are no additional fees for tournament participation.

13/14U:

Our 13U/14U program is an in-house baseball program intended for player currently attending 6th, 7th or 8th grade.  Exceptions can be made for younger players with advanced skills.  Players must be 14 years old or younger on April 30th 2017 so only some 8th graders will qualify.  

Play and practice dates will vary weekly but typically be twice per week Mondays through Thursdays at 6 pm.  Practices are held at Sportsman Park in Clearwater and begin in mid April (weather permitting).  Games begin in mid May and home games are at Sportsman Park and away games are in Becker, Big Lake, Monticello and St Michaels/Albertville. Coaches may offer additional practices or scrimmages on weekends.  Games are about 2 hours in duration or a maximum of seven innings.  Players are typically asked to arrive 30 mins early for games.  A season-ending tournament will take place on approximately the third weekend in July.  In addition, each team at this level will participate in 2 additional tournaments that are determined by the Head Coach (sign up early to have a say on when these will occur since registration for these will occur as early as mid March).  There are no additional fees for tournament participation.

15U & 16U Travel Teams:

Travel baseball begins at at our 15U age group and extends to 16U.  This level of play is intended for players with several years of baseball experience and attending 8th grade or higher.  Exceptions can be made for younger players with advanced skills.

CLAYBA Travel Teams participate in the Gopher State Baseball League (GSBL) operated by the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS). CLAYBA teams play at the AA level or AAA level.

A player must be at the age of the level or younger on May 1st (example: a player 15 years old on May 1st can play 15U or higher but cannot play 14U).  

Rules vary by age level.  Game dates and times vary by age level.  Each Travel Team plays about 16 regular season games, 3 tournaments, and 1-5 playoff games.  Home games are played at Sportsmans Park in Clearwater or Goenner Park in Clear Lake.  Away games are generally within 45 mins drive.

Players will receive a hat and jersey.  Team batting helmets are provided.  Grey baseball pants with red piping (any style), red socks and cleats are the parents/players responsibility.  Bring your own bat and glove.

Costs include jersey, hat, indoor practices, league fees and all tournament fees.
